Program Description
Event Details
In Janet Halfmann's book, "Garter Snake at Willow Creek Lane," children will be introduced to the often misunderstood world of snakes. Children will participate in the telling of this "scaly" story and then spend time being "ophiologists" (snake scientists). Snake myths will be dispelled and their astonishing adaptations will be studied. Questions such as: "Why do snakes have so many different colors and patterns?"; "Do snakes have a sense of smell?"; "Where are a snake's ears?"; "Are all snakes venomous?" will be answered during hands-on stations. If the WNS snakes are healthy and happy, we might even get to visit with one!
Please note: Our children's programs are planned so that they are developmentally appropriate for children of the age range specified. Please respect these age designations and the Library's Safe Child Policy when bringing children to Library programs.
